Three magical evenings’ promise thousands of luminarias and twinkling lights plus decorated holiday trees and wreaths to set the mood for enjoying a wide range of eclectic music while munching on culinary treats sure to summon the holiday spirit. There will be something to suit all musical tastes: high energy Latin rhythms (Tesoro), spirited Irish ditties (Scatter Dust), guitar-pick’n bluegrass (Desert Bluegrass Workshop), chamber music (Southern Arizona Symphony String Quartet), klezmer (Klezmerkaba), church choirs (St. Michael’s School) along with all our regulars including the hand bells choir, Joyous Bells.<br /><br />***************************************************<br /><br />ADVANCED CACTUS AND SUCCULENTS<br /><br />November 14, 16, and 18<br /><br />3 – 5 p.m.<br /><br />This three-session class is intended for succulent collectors and serious plant enthusiasts. The introductory class “The Cactus Family” (offered November 9) is suggested as a prerequisite for those having less familiarity with the subject.<br /><br />Advanced Cacti & Succulents will provide a comprehensive overview of the many kinds of plants grown as part of the succulent hobby. We’ll look at how to grow them in the Tucson climate, including cold hardiness, sun tolerance, landscape use, and propagation. We’ll have a hands-on look at growing succulents in containers, including choice of pots, media, and top-dressings.
